These fascinating vignettes give an insight into some of the issues facing women who went against this male-dominated profession, opening the way for such luminaries as Zara Hadid and Amanda Levete, designer of our iconic Selfridge’s building in Birmingham. 

My personal favourite is Eileen Gray who gave Le Corbusier the run around! In her house, E1027, he broke in and painted a series of sexually explicit murals:
